If you are calling because your child is having an allergy reaction, follow your ALLERGY ACTION PLAN and call 000 for an ambulance should you require immediate medical attention.
Referrals
Paediatric Allergist - You must have an up to date referral from a GP before making an appointment
Dietitian – A referral is not required
Speech Pathologist – A referral not required
Psychologist – A referral is not required
At your appointment the doctor will take a detailed medical history.
As part of the allergy assessment your child may need skin prick testing. Antihistamine tablets/syrups or medications with antihistamine-like actions (such as some cold remedies) should not be taken within 72 hours of testing as these will interfere with the results of testing. Other appropriate tests will be arranged in consultation with your doctor.
Bring your child’s health record (Blue Book) with you.
We see many children with food allergies and ask that your child does not eat in the surgery.
